mother's day

for my mom:

-the first person i call when there's news - good or bad
-who is my biggest supporter and cheerleader
-who has the best shoulder to cry on
-who laughs at all my jokes
-who was the best girl scout leader and bake sale baker and last minute homework helper
-who loves me unconditionally with her whole heart and then some
-who always inspires me to be a better person
-who has taught me so much about being a woman, and never fails to astound me with her kindness and wisdom and grace

i wouldn't be half as cool as i am without a role model like you. ;) happy mother's day. i love you and miss you so much.

and here's the "mega mom mix" i'm sending.

anniversary

two years ago changed many things. the major one was the catalyst for being able to start forgiving myself and learning how to love again. thank you, sweetheart.

lust. laughter. loyalty.

valentine's day was over a month ago now but i had a slight panic attack today when i thought i might have reformatted over this card. this day. a friend's children's birthday party. a round of bowling. walking around downtown and picking up things to make for dinner at the market. kisses and holding hands. i adored all the random moments that singularly might be commonplace but together made for such a memorable weekend. and as the week passed i took photos of the roses he gave me as they slowly began to wilt and drop their petals.

distance

sometimes the things that seem the furthest away, and are the hardest to grasp, are far closer and far simpler than you make it out to be. i should know...

alki beach

i had never been before up until a few weeks ago, but i somehow convinced myself that walking along the waterfront at alki beach would channel all the time spent at bradford beach and along the coast of lake michigan in milwaukee and thusly i wouldn't feel so homesick. luckily, i was correct. and even more lucky: my holga somehow let in the most delicious light leaks.
